Our product range comprises of clay bricks, Thermalite blocks, aggregate blocks, Red Bank chimney, roofing and flue systems, precast concrete and flooring products and Formpave permeable paving.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the position of Estimating Manager at Hoveringham.

The Role

  • The role will provide leadership and direction for the Estimating team.
  • To manage the Estimating resource to ensure compliance with the strategic and operational business objectives.
  • The incumbent will proactively embed a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with statutory and regulatory guidelines to fulfil the strategic objectives of Forterra Building Products

The Candidate

Leadership

  • Provide leadership to the Estimating team.
  • Proactively collaborate with and commercially support all functional teams.
  • Ensure effective management of the Estimating team by providing clear objectives, targets and performance measures
  • Proactively oversee and facilitate personal development plans for all direct reports.

Bid Management

  • Assessment of customer enquiries.
  • Allocation and monitoring of workload to ensure timely response to customers.
  • Preparation and timely submission of quotations.
  • Implementation and monitoring of pricing strategy to reflect costs and market dynamics.
  • Compliance with internal review procedures and authority processes.
  • Ensure robust change control process is in place and followed.
  • Attend customer pre-let meetings as required.

Reporting

The collation and clear dissemination of all relevant statistical data to report on;

Communication

  • Effective, regular communication with Sales function and all stakeholders.
  • Ensure detailed information on estimates and quotations are communicated to the wider business.

Customer Development

  • Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships.
  • Attendance at relevant meetings with customers.

Team Working

  • Contribute to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice.
  • Contribute positively in departmental team meetings and discussions to enable knowledge sharing and one team working.
  • Review and identify personal objectives to achieve targets impacting on team objectives.
  • Proactively identify achievements, shortfalls and areas for improvement against plans.
  • Agree and implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively seek to improve processes and procedures to improve estimating accuracy and throughput.
  • Proactively seek to improve and expedite team and business reporting.
